Half inch, 1 inch, 2inch…why all the different plate sizes when it comes to a flat iron? Well, mainly for different hair lengths, hair types and then comes preference. While a wider plate may straighten hair faster, these wide plates cannot url or wave hair like a 1 inch flat iron.
A 1 inch flat iron is the most versatile plate size on a hair iron. A 1″ hair straightener can curl, flip, wave and straighten hair.
If you have extremely short hair your best option is a mini hair iron. A mini hair iron features plates that are 1/2″ and great for short hairstyles such as mens hair.
If you have long, thick, hard to manage hair, a large plate hair iron such as 2 inches will work faster to straighten your hair.
For many, choosing the Best Flat Iron, preference is what it comes down to. I myself have both a 1″ and a 2″ as when I wear my hair super straight I like the wider plates as it gets the job done faster as it goes over more hair than a smaller hair iron.
